I agree and I agree! See what is there, take it in and frame it when needed! Being in the moment is indeed a way of being more aware of what is and what is to be seen as a photograph.

I always think Chris that if you go out looking for photographs to take, you don’t see any. Go out with the intention of not taking any pics… you see loads!

They were just lost in the moment and the view. I don’t feel we do enough of that in our lives. We should stop and take in things more.

Thanks for the comments about the website…and the comment you left too Much appreciated. I totally agree with the university professor and the idea of living in an era of technological overload. In a few weeks time I’ll be having a ‘digital detox’ for a week or so. What always surprises me is how little i actually miss any of the twittering or Facebooking.

Great site. Amazing photos. I’m thinking of doing the same with facebook.. but now I have a blogging obsession.. what to do. When I was in University not so long ago a professor once stated that we live in an era of technological overload.. we have so many options but do not know what to do with them. We are now becoming an anti-social society in that we spend more time with our virtual friends than with our real friends. And… don’t get me started on what this implies in relation to internet crime.

Thanks Chris for the lovely comment. Totally agree with what you said . It was very sad, but my Nanna was 96 and had been going downhill health wise for a couple of years – she couldn’t recognise any of her family (due to dementia) for the last six months or more. In many respects we lost her then.

Glad you like the story about her – she often got words slightly wrong I asked her once what my Grandpa did during the war – ‘He worked in Naval Audience’ she replied. I thought about it a while and then realised she’d meant ‘Naval Ordnance’

A nice concise WordPress report about activity in the Darker Skies blog.
I must admit that i’d have liked the figures to be higher, but 2011 was really about the blog finding its role. It has that now along with a growing readership, a dedicated podcast page and a FAR better layout design… a good start for building up the website during 2012.

Hi Richard, your wondering about capturing images for memory touches me.
Hopefully some can say ‘in the end, we still have the photographs and the memories’.
Especially the strong imprint an image creates in one’s brain, like time is frozen.
As if time could stop flowing, progressing and people could stop growing and
changing during time. And go in the end.
I am sorry for your loss, but what a wonderful story about your nana.
She sounds like a lively spirit in that story!
